I never did get to share with you the before and after shots for my seventh case study instalment last year. This was the 2 bed Surry Hills home where we renovated every inch. Here are the images before and after for the kitchen and bathroom renovation.
As you can see the floor plan for each space didn’t really change, however what really made these two rooms successful after renovation was how light and spacious both rooms felt compared to how they were prior.

So even if you feel that you can’t make a space seem bigger because your floor plan is locked in, there are many things you can do to help give the illusion of more space. Lighter colours, larger pieces and less of them, consistent use of materials and a style that flows through every piece in the room. All of these things deliver a cohesive space that will feel lighter, brighter, fresher and a pleasure to be in!
