Hi All,
I’ve been quieter on social media of late. This time of year I tend to spend time visiting the interior design supplier showrooms as new collections are released for spring. Last week I was lucky to go on a sourcing trip with two other designers to Melbourne. It was great to visit some of the suppliers that I only get to see online. Sometimes you just can’t get a full idea on the craftsmanship, scale and impact of a piece until you see it in person.
By far the most impressive showroom I visited was the new Weylandts showroom in Abbotsford. Originating from South Africa where they are known for quality pieces and innovative design, in 2013 Melbourne is the first store to open in Australia. Walking around the showroom was a real experience, it was huge. An old factory converted into a space that displays these pieces perfectly. You can even stop for a coffee and bite to eat in their beautiful café. I can’t wait to use these pieces in my projects moving forward.
There was plenty of artwork to choose from in the showrooms I visited. Julie Button Agency displayed many of the Designer Boys pieces, and Warranbrooke also stocked some amazing artwork to work with all styles of interiors, all beautifully framed and ready to hang.
Finally a new supplier for me was Meizai based in Richmond. This store offered an range of furniture and homewares in different styles from contemporary to classic, and some with a real edge I spotted a few pieces in this showroom that I will be following up for current projects
Enjoy looking through these images and the suppliers website, and if you’re in Melbourne make sure you visit Weylandts, it’s an experience not to be missed.
Happy decorating!
