This is the fifth instalment this year of my case study series where I write about recently finished projects each with a different focus, brief, and style.
This project was a complete home renovation. It’s a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom property with a playroom, lounge and kitchen/dining area. The only rooms we didn’t touch were the bathrooms as these were fresh and modern. We went from taking down walls in the kitchen to create a discrete laundry and an open plan kitchen/dining space through to defining the living areas into functional spaces and designing and decorating these appropriately. In addition we turned what was a depressing attic conversion into a bright and playful children’s bedroom.
The property had great bones and some lovely original features so made the most of these. When designing the kitchen it was important to balance the traditional and contemporary. This is done through contemporary cabinetry and colours, finished with traditional hardware and lighting. Creating a banquette meant that we were able to accommodate more people around the dining table which was important for this family of five.
The lounge room was designed with a playful energy as it’s somewhere where all of the family will enjoy coming together to relax and watch TV. The wallpaper was sourced from a supplier in New York and this really is the feature of the room. Furniture pieces are a mix of Jardan, Matt Blatt, Sounds Like Home and Freedom. The artwork from my favourite supplier – Designer Boys.
As you can see from the rest of the images we redesigned the bedrooms injecting personality and comfort. For the master bedroom we created a serene relaxing space, whilst the boys bedroom is lively and fun. Look out for my next case study in the coming weeks. Until then, if you have any thoughts on the above feel free email me at [email protected].
Happy decorating.
