I currently seem to have a number of bathroom designs underway so have been spending a lot of time online collecting inspiration pictures for my clients to help us with the design process. I thought I would share with you some of these styles and also some tips on how to avoid the uninteresting white room design that you see for many bathrooms.
Use of stone is still a big focus, with some lovely contemporary mosaic style tiles on the market using a mixture of glass and stone to create a really interesting effect (see below picture). I’m favouring natural materials in these bathrooms as much as possible as this helps to move away from that stark white that so many people end up with. It’s important to add depth, interest and texture in a bathroom which can seem challenging but think about the materials that you choose to use on:
• Wall tiling
• Vanity
• Storage/shelving
• Floor
• Accessories such as stools, baskets, fixtures
Try and introduce new materials in these areas to help balance the colder look of your toilet, bath, and basin. By using natural stone with texture, timber veneers for warmth on your vanity, shelving or any type of storage, and accessories that bring new colours to the space you will be layering to create more warmth and interest. Take a look at these bathrooms below that are inspiring me right now.
Happy decorating.
